In addition to providing our own programming, C.A.R.E. partners with local community agencies whenever possible to produce immediate and long-term benefits for each communities. Through access to a variety of local organizations, we are able to bring unduplicated services to each property.
One of our partners we are highlighting this month is:
LifeSTEPS, Life Skills Training and Educational Programs, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. By partnering with property owners and developers, LifeSTEPS provides high quality supportive services to residents of affordable housing. As of 2009, LifeSTEPS serves 117 senior and multifamily affordable housing complexes throughout California, with an additional presence in Washington state.
LifeSTEPS is positioned to help prevent life’s ordinary challenges from escalating into extraordinary hardships, such as a flat tire escalating into a lost job, an unexpected medical expense becoming an insurmountable debt, or a wage reduction resulting in unpaid utility expenses or loss of housing. LifeSTEPS stands alongside residents during these difficult times to provide real-life solutions that foster housing stabilization and lead to long-term success. The LifeSTEPS mission is to strengthen families and communities through educational and social service programs, with a focus on life skills training, education and supportive services for children, adults, and seniors. Our vision is that every person touched by LifeSTEPS will be empowered with the skills, resources, and support to break the cycle of poverty and maintain stable housing.

This month Communities Advocating for Resident Empowerment would like to acknowledge Long Beach Housing Development Company, along with Northpointe Apartments, Young Horizon Program, Long Beach Blast team, Elevate Your Game, and Cal State Long Beach. Recently the Northpointe Apartments and CARE’s Executive Director, Madelyne Pfeiffer, and Las Palmas Housing Assistant Project Manager, Noami Pines, were featured on the program Inside Long Beach on LBTV 8. The program highlighted the success of C.A.R.E. and our partners in fostering a vibrant and healthy affordable housing community in Long Beach. They were able to capture footage of the wonderful youth programs provided at Northpointe Apartments. Our special thanks goes out to all of the stake holders who have helped to make our Northpointe community a success, including Las Palmas Housing, Related Co, and Related Mgt.
